ORLANDO – After winning two games by a combined 83 points on Tuesday, All-Ohio Red had their hands full with Louisiana Dream Team in a 56-46 victory. Plagued by sloppy possessions, poor shot selection and a bit of selfishness on the offensive end, Red went into halftime with a tournament-low 26 points. Led by Cleveland Garfield Heights combo guard Willie Jackson, Red outscored Louisiana 30-24 in the final 16 minutes to finish pool play undefeated.
While Jackson scored a team-high 11 points in the second half, Cleveland Shaker Heights power forward Esa Ahmad paced the offense for the entirety of Wednesday’s contest, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Ahmad was a specimen on the block, as Louisiana had no equal matchup for the 6’9″ forward. Dayton Trotwood-Madison guard D’Mitrik Trice had another solid showing, ending with seven points and nine rebounds.
For Louisiana, No. 22 (no roster) led the team in scoring with 14 points and six rebounds. The underdogs from New Orleans played a tight game for 32 minutes, pressuring Red en route to causing seven steals. Severely undersized, Louisiana used their quickness on the perimeter to cause problems for Ahmad and All-Ohio Red.
